Effectiveness of Garlic Extract (Allium sativum L) as Larvicide of Aedes aegypti

The problem of disease due to dengue virus infection is still a health concern, especially in tropical countries. One the efforts made explore vegetable insecticides as larvicides for vectors, Aedes aegypti mosquito. Garlic (Allium sativum. L) believed be able repel or inhibit and even kill larvae mosquito because garlic has strong aroma. This study aims determine effectiveness extract larvicide aegypti. research method used quasi-experimental with post test only control group design. were instar I-IV which divided into treatment groups groups. In group, given 5 concentrations, namely 0.10% (0.2 mL + 200 water), 0.20% (0.4 0.30% (0.6 0.40% (0.8 water) 0.50% (1 while was mineral water. results observing all instars showed that higher concentration extract, more died, larval needed it. . first larvae, LC50 0.24%, second 0.15%, third 0.16% fourth so instar, 50% larvae.
